Sophisticates in our midst
Last night, I passed a white minivan in a parking lot, with a sign posted on its rear window. It was clear from the poor composition and erratic typesetting that the sign was homemade by someone without a firm grasp of design principles. It read:

"If you don't like like Dick + Bush then you must be a Gay Democrat"
(Right. Because who would admit to being one of THOSE?)
The owner of the minivan wasn't around. I don't know where he was. Maybe buying duct tape to have on hand to repair the rear window when it gets smashed.
Here are a couple of questions his sign raised in my mind:
- Couldn't someone who likes "Dick + Bush" just as well be a bisexual Republican?
- Or a straight Democrat, if I infer that the combination of "Dick + Bush" is the object of dislike?
- How does sexual preference enter into this political message?
- Would you say your bigotry is across-the-board, or do you limit it to gay people?
