Sightings

The Keelhauler has been found.

(Technically, he was never lost, as I'm sure he knew where he was the whole time, but he was unaccounted for, which caused me to call the Coast Guard earlier this morning, reporting him overdue.)

The Coast Guard officer just called me to report that the boat had been located off Anacapa Island, under sail, and set to arrive in Santa Barbara at noon. He said something about motor trouble, but I didn't absorb the details, because I was crying out of relief, and snuffling into the phone, obscuring his words.

I am relieved, obviously, and take back every unflattering thing I may ever have said about the Keelhauler, including those things I may say in the future.

Now I can get back to the business of pretending that I didn't have a huge crying jag at work, in front of my boss, who very kindly but awkwardly hugged me, getting tear stains on his shirt in the process. That uncomfortable situation should be glossed over in three or four months, no problem.
