To protect and serve... the amnesiac
No tax increase complaint here
Several months ago, I found myself at a phone booth on State Street. I called the Police Department for help. I had parked my car somewhere but when I returned, it was not there.
I sat on a bench on that same street and waited for an officer to come. He arrived and listened to my story of woe. When I told him I was driving a 1996 Volvo, he quickly corrected me with a "1997 Volvo.'' He had seen me driving and remembered.
I gave him the description of my car and the approximate location of where I had parked it. The officer, in a very professional manner, sat me down on a street bench and drove off to find my car. In 10 to 15 minutes, he was back. He took me to my car and "drove off into the sunset".
Believe me, when that tax increase time comes, if it includes assistance for the Police Department, I will be first in line to vote yes. Thank you for having such great personnel on your police force.
