Internet celebrity attempt no. 2

The Keelhauler found a cache of homemade mix CDs at The Lonely Little Thrift Store out on the avenue, and, feeling that fifty cents apiece represented a killer deal, bought them all. We were listening to them last night on the boat. My favorite was one entitled, in black magic marker crawl, Friday, 8:15 A.M. The Im Being Forced Out Mix

Its not hard to picture a bitter argument leading to an eviction, with the unfortunate roommate hurriedly copying the others CD collection before walking out the door for the last time. Its entertaining to discover what a total stranger considers a great mix of music. Once, in Tucson, the Keelhauler found a mix tape entitled There Aint No Bugs on Me, which in spite of a couple of grating Phish songs, became a regular part of our music library. The Forced Out mix isnt as well-thought-out, which points to its creator's imminent eviction, and includes:

  • Mountain Song, Janes Addiction
  • Minutes to Memories, John Cougar Mellencamp
  • Lie to Me, Johnny Lang
  • Two Tickets to Paradise. (Because when youre being kicked out of your apartment, you really want to hear some Eddie Money.)

Theres also some song that the Keelhauler thought was Son Volt, and I thought might be Wilco, and we agreed was probably Uncle Tupelo, but we werent sure. Anyway, we started talking about Uncle Tupelo, and the Keelhauler commented that Jay Farrars and Jeff Tweedys voices nicely complemented one another.

Jay Farrar is like the out-loud voice, the spoken word, and Jeff Tweedy is like the thoughts inside your head, the things you dont say out loud. We thought about this for a minute, and he added, I think that the voices in my head sound like Jeff Tweedy. Not everyone can probably say that.

You know, Im not going to write down everything you say in my diary.

DAMN!
